A church called Portico
Why the name Portico? Some of the first followers of Jesus gathered in the portico of Solomon, who was one of the ancient Jewish kings. A portico is a fancy name for a covered porch supported by columns. In ancient Greek and Rome they served as entry ways into buildings and temples. They had no walls and often became places of gathering and thoughtful conversation about life, spirituality, and the way of things. We want Portico Church to be a place where many conversations like this take place.
What to expect if you come
We have about an hour-long worship gathering with good music, a relevant message based on the bible, and a number of creative elements. There's a great program for K-5th grade kids, childcare and activities for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers. Dress is pretty casual, so just dress comfortably.
And don't forget to stick around when our worship gathering is over. We have time for people to connect and get to know one another over coffee and snacks. We also have a special gift for new visitors!

Philemon...
Although it's one of the shortest books in the bible, there is a lot to uncover in this book. Paul's letter about a runaway slave touches on some important ideas that we'll be looking at during this 3 week series.
January 16th: effective sharing
January 23rd: appealing faith
January 30th: refreshing others
Psalms: All-Time Greatest Hits...
Beginning February 5th we start a series looking at some of the greatest songs every written: the Psalms. Many people have found words of comfort, and inspiration for thousands of years. We'll explore some of the various themes found in these songs - as well as the stories behind them.
Connection Groups...
Along with our journey through Psalms, we'll have a number of Connection Groups available to join. These small groups are a great chance to meet new people and engage in discussion about what we are discovering in the scriptures. Groups will be a 9 week session beginning the week of February 5th. Details will be available during our worship gatherings in the last few weeks of January, or call the office with any questions!
Kid's Church...
Each Sunday during our worship gathering we have kid's church for kids in 5th grade or younger. Music, games, art projects and a bible lesson are geared just for the kids!
